Manchester United have been tipped to compete for the Premier League title after ending the 2025–26 season on a strong note.

The Red Devils enter the new campaign with renewed optimism, beginning their league journey against newly promoted Hull City. Head coach Michael Carrick has been confirmed in the role on a permanent basis following an impressive interim spell during which he guided United to a third-place finish and secured a return to the UEFA Champions League.

This season, however, will present a real challenge for Carrick, who must now balance European fixtures with potentially extended runs in the domestic cup competitions.

United’s campaign begins with an away trip to Hull, followed by their first home match of the season against Ipswich Town. The team’s first major test arrives on September 12 when they host local rivals Manchester City. Notably, both Manchester derbies this season will be without Pep Guardiola on the touchline for the first time in a decade. The return fixture at the Etihad Stadium is set for March 20, a date that could prove crucial in the title race.

The early part of the season appears relatively favourable for United, featuring away trips to Everton and Fulham surrounding the first derby of the campaign.

Manchester United will face reigning champions Arsenal on December 19 at the Emirates Stadium, before hosting them on February 27 at Old Trafford. The encounters with Liverpool are scheduled for November 21 and January 23, with the first meeting taking place at Old Trafford.

During the festive period, United will host Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day and Sunderland on December 30. Their first fixture of 2027 will be an away match at Brighton, and they will conclude the season with a home game against Fulham.
