LA City Council declares January 6 as Diljit Dosanjh Day

The Los Angeles City Council has declared January 6, 2027, as "Diljit Dosanjh Day."

The resolution was introduced by Los Angeles Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez.

It honors the Punjabi singer-actor's contribution to globalizing Punjabi music and promoting South Asian representation in mainstream American culture.

The date coincides with Dosanjh's birthday.

Dosanjh's team took to Instagram to share the news with his fans.

They wrote, "Diljit Dosanjh day in LA."

"The Los Angeles City Council has officially adopted a civic resolution declaring January 6, 2027, as 'Diljit Dosanjh Day.'"

The clip showed him receiving a framed resolution during a private gathering.

Dressed in traditional attire, he appeared emotional and folded his hands in gratitude.

"What should I say, I am speechless," he said while receiving the honor.

The film, directed by Honey Trehan and produced by Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP Movies, is based on slain human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra.

It has been stuck with the Central Board of Film Certification for the past few years.
