Aadhaar-based biometric verification will be mandatory for the NEET UG 2026 re-exam; however, candidates will still be permitted to take the exam even if the verification fails due to technical reasons.
The NEET UG 2026 re-exam is scheduled for tomorrow. The exam was originally held on May 3 but was cancelled following reports of a paper leak. The NTA (National Testing Agency) is now conducting the exam afresh, with security measures significantly tightened compared to before.
Upon arrival at the exam center, candidates must first undergo frisking and an admit card check. Subsequently, Aadhaar-based biometric verification will be conducted before entry into the exam hall. This process is essential to verify the candidate's identity.
Adherence to Rules is Mandatory
The NTA has warned that if a candidate refuses to undergo biometric verification without a valid and recorded reason, it will be considered a violation of exam rules. In such cases, action may be taken under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
What Happens if Aadhaar/Biometric Verification Fails?
Biometric verification sometimes fails due to technical issues—such as machine malfunctions, internet or UIDAI server problems, unclear fingerprints, or physical conditions preventing biometric capture. There is no need to panic in such situations. The NTA has clearly stated that no candidate will be barred from taking the exam solely due to a biometric verification failure.
What Should the Candidate Do?
If your biometric verification fails, immediately inform the exam center officials. Obtain the prescribed Undertaking Form from the Center Superintendent. Fill in the required details and submit the form. Cooperate with any additional verification procedures specified by the officials. Retain any receipts, instructions, or documents related to post-exam verification that may be provided to you.
No Verification During the Exam
According to the NTA, biometric verification may be conducted before the exam begins and, if necessary, after it concludes. Students will not be disturbed while the exam is in progress. Candidates are required to reach the exam center between 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM; no candidate will be granted entry after 1:30 PM.
NTA's Appeal
The NTA has stated that all preparations for conducting the exam in a fair, secure, and smooth manner are complete. The agency has urged candidates to remain calm, have confidence in their preparation, and adhere to the prescribed guidelines.
