On the occasion of International Yoga Day 2026, many programs will be organized across the country on Sunday, June 21. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the national level program in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, while President Draupadi Murmu will be present in the state level program of Madhya Pradesh. Governor Mangubhai Patel and CM Dr. Mohan Yadav will also participate in the state level Yoga Day program to be organized in Jabalpur.
The 12th state level International Yoga Day program will be organized at the Garrison Ground in Sadar, Jabalpur from 7:30 am. About 5 thousand citizens will participate in the mass yoga practice being organized on the theme of “Yoga for Healthy Age”. Besides, about 3 thousand 400 students from 31 schools will also participate in this program.
It is noteworthy that in 2014, on the initiative of PM Modi, the United Nations recognized the ancient sage tradition of India and declared June 21 as International Yoga Day. Since this announcement, every year on this day, the whole world does yoga. In India it is said, do yoga and stay healthy. Now the whole world is accepting it. This year’s theme has been kept as “Yoga for a healthy age”, hence, when the whole world does yoga, it is not only a moment that makes India proud but also gives the whole world a great moment. It also becomes a revolutionary step in awakening consciousness.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that in India, the importance of Yoga since the time of Lord Shri Krishna is not hidden from anyone. Today the world is moving on the path of health by adopting Yoga. He said that Yoga is not only limited to Asana Pranayam, Yoga is the best method of living life.
The local administration has made elaborate security arrangements regarding the program of President Draupadi Murmu. His carcade will include 12 vehicles. The President will ride in a special car fitted with a jammer. Snipers will be deployed on tall buildings through whatever route his convoy will pass. Apart from this, police will be deployed at every nook and corner. There will be special security arrangements at the venue as well, only invitees will be allowed to enter here.
Apart from the Yoga Day programme, President Smt. Draupadi Murmu will attend the 36th convocation of Rani Durgavati University. Governor Mangubhai Patel will preside over the program. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar will attend as special guests. 240 gold medals will be awarded to 141 meritorious students in the convocation ceremony. The President will award 20 gold medals to the selected students. 182 researchers will be awarded PhD degrees in the ceremony. Apart from this, it is proposed to award D-Litt to three scholars, DSC to one and honorary degree to one distinguished personality. Undergraduate and postgraduate degrees will also be awarded to eligible students of various faculties.
