England are facing concerns over the fitness of Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford ahead of their upcoming World Cup encounter against Ghana.

The Three Lions began their World Cup campaign earlier this week with a thrilling 4-2 victory against Croatia.

Harry Kane opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Martin Baturina equalised with a superb strike. Kane then restored England’s advantage with a powerful header from a precise corner delivered by Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice.

However, Croatia once again levelled the contest when Petar Musa reacted quickest to a loose ball to make it 2-2.

England came out strong after the interval and regained the lead in the 47th minute, as Jude Bellingham finished off an impressive solo run with a composed strike.

Rashford, who entered the match as a substitute, sealed the victory with a fine goal, ensuring England secured all three points. Manager Thomas Tuchel had opted to start Anthony Gordon, leaving Rashford on the bench.

The storyline carries extra intrigue given Rashford’s loan spell at Barcelona during the 2025/26 season. The Spanish giants ultimately decided not to make the move permanent, instead signing Gordon. After Rashford’s recent performance, that decision may come under renewed scrutiny.

According to The Sun, however, there are now fears that Rashford might have sustained an injury during the opening match against Croatia.

The report states, “Marcus Rashford is an injury worry ahead of England’s next game against Ghana.”

“The Manchester United winger impressed as a substitute in the 4-2 win over Croatia on Wednesday – scoring the fourth goal – but later complained of tightness in his hamstring.”

It is understood that Rashford did not take part in a training match on Thursday with the other substitutes against Kansas City, a game England won 5-1.

The Sun further reports that Rashford experienced discomfort in his hamstring and glute area following his appearance against Croatia.

Both England and Tuchel will be hoping that the injury proves minor and that Rashford can recover in time for the crucial clash with Ghana.
