Nowadays almost everyone needs high speed internet. Work from home, attend online classes, or just watch a good movie in your spare time. No speed without internet. But your Wi-Fi speed is slow despite having a high-speed broadband plan. No more annoyance. If you follow these few ways, your internet will run at rocket speed.
Do not place the router near thick walls: Many people put the router behind the TV, inside a cabinet and against a thick wall. But this causes the Wi-Fi signal to drop. Thick walls or concrete are the main enemies of Wi-Fi. If the Wi-Fi signal passes through many layers or barriers, the Internet speed slows down. So always keep the router in an open place.
Restart the router: Sometimes routers also need a break. If you leave the router running continuously for weeks or months, its performance decreases and the Internet speed slows down. So occasionally turn off the router for 20 to 30 seconds. Then restart. As a result, the internet speed returns to normal.
Try placing the router in the middle of the house: A lot depends on where you place your router. If it is in a corner of the router, then the houses on the opposite side of the house will not get a good signal. So place the router in the middle of the house as much as possible. You will get normal Wi-Fi signal and fast internet anywhere in the house.
Use of ‘Reset’ button: Most routers have a small reset button on the back. If all else fails, press and hold this button. This will reset the router to its initial or default settings. If any mechanical problem remains, it will be removed. But remember, after doing this you need to re-set-up or configure your Wi-Fi network.
Router Update: Router manufacturers and ISPs release firmware updates to fix security flaws and improve performance. Check your router occasionally to see if it needs any updates. Internet speed also becomes sluggish due to lack of router updates.
Slow Wi-Fi internet speed doesn’t mean you have to get a better broadband plan. Things like proper positioning of the router, restart procedures, using the reset button if all else fails, and ensuring regular updates can make a big difference.
