Brazilian midfielder Casemiro has reportedly reached an agreement to join Inter Miami, marking the end of a long-running pursuit by the Major League Soccer champions to bring the former Manchester United star to the United States. Both Inter Miami and LA Galaxy were rumoured to be interested after Casemiro left Manchester United as a free agent in June, but it now appears the reigning MLS Cup holders have successfully secured his services.

Reports indicate that Miami have finalised a major deal for the midfielder. According to renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Casemiro has been identified as the club’s top target to strengthen their central midfield options.

Romano reported on Saturday morning that the Brazilian will officially join Inter Miami once the World Cup concludes. The Florida-based side are believed to have fended off competition from other MLS clubs and teams in the Saudi Pro League to finalise the signing.

Inter Miami have been searching for a suitable replacement for Sergio Busquets, who retired at the end of the 2025 season. Despite the high-profile nature of the move, Casemiro will not occupy a designated player slot, as those positions are already filled by Lionel Messi, Rodrigo De Paul, and Germán Berterame. However, there is a precedent in MLS for star players initially joining on non-DP contracts before renegotiating for more lucrative terms later, as seen with De Paul’s deal last season.
