Dan Burn has stated that Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham are among the standout leaders within the England squad, emphasising their crucial role for the national team in the ongoing tournament.

Both Kane and Bellingham found the net in England’s 4-2 victory over Croatia in their opening match, and Burn highlighted the importance of both stars making strong starts to the competition.

“I think they’re both leaders in the group, playing for top clubs and at the peak of their careers. I know Jude’s only 12 or whatever, but he’s still there! He’s got a long way to go, but it already feels like he’s a major player for us,” Burn joked.

He continued, “That’s really important. For any team with world-class players, keeping them fit, sharp, and scoring goals is vital—you need a bit of luck too to progress in the later stages of the tournament. For Harry to score the goals he did and Jude as well, I thought Jude was everywhere on the pitch.”

Burn went on to praise Bellingham’s influence on the team’s energy and intensity: “Jude’s one of those players you can sense when he’s really on it. He sets the tone. When he flies into a tackle three minutes in, it lifts everyone—like ‘wow, Jude’s really up for it today, I need to raise my game.’ He’s got that spark about him. Seeing him start the tournament so well, I was genuinely happy for him.”

After the win over Croatia, there was a touching moment when the England players and travelling supporters sang together, and Burn said it meant a lot to him. “That moment was incredible, truly special. If that happens after every game, it’ll be amazing. It was such a special memory for me, especially with my family in the stands. It’s set the tone for us, and hopefully, we can build from here.”
