Éderson Silva has revealed that his transfer from Atalanta to Manchester United is “almost done”.
The Red Devils are understood to have finalised a deal worth £34 million (€40.5 million), with an additional £3.8 million (€4.5 million) in potential performance-related bonuses.
The 26-year-old Brazilian midfielder is said to have agreed to personal terms on a four-year contract, which includes an option for a one-year extension.
Atalanta manager Raffaele Palladino confirmed last month that Éderson would be departing the club during the upcoming summer transfer window.
“It was a decision taken jointly with the player because there is an ongoing development in the transfer market,” Palladino stated. “Having a player of his calibre being pursued by such a major club should be a source of pride.”
Éderson, who is expected to replace Casemiro in the Manchester United squad, will become Michael Carrick’s first signing since being appointed as the club’s permanent head coach after a successful interim spell last season. Over the past four Serie A campaigns, Éderson has tallied 13 goals and four assists across 138 appearances.
The midfielder recently received a late call-up to Brazil’s FIFA World Cup squad from manager Carlo Ancelotti following an injury to Wesley. He featured as a substitute in Brazil’s 3-0 win over Haiti on Sunday.
Speaking to Sky Italia following the match, Éderson said, “I have to wait. For now, I just want to enjoy this moment, and then we will see what happens.”
He added, “Of course, everything is almost done, but right now I want to make the most of this experience. It’s a wonderful moment, and I want to enjoy it fully.”
