Speaking to talkSPORT from England’s World Cup training camp in Kansas City, James expressed how difficult it was to say goodbye to his teammate. “Yeah, I spoke with him a few days ago,” he said. “He’s obviously an incredible player, one of the best left-backs in the world. That’s football — players move on regularly, and I’m devastated to see him go. But I wish him all the best.”

Xabi Alonso faces an immediate defensive test

Cucurella’s exit presents an early challenge for newly appointed Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso.
