In view of the extreme heat and heat wave in many districts including Bihar’s capital Patna, summer vacation has been extended in all government and private schools up to class 8th. Patna District Magistrate (DM) Kundan Kumar has issued an order to keep all the schools of the district closed till June 27, 2026, under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defense Code, 2023. This order will be effective from Monday, June 22.

This restriction will be equally applicable to all pre-schools, private and government schools and Anganwadi centres. All concerned officers including the District Education Officer have been given the responsibility to ensure strict compliance with this order. Under the order, classes from class 9th to 12th will continue to conduct till 11:00 am.

Apart from this, Nalanda District Magistrate Rajiv Ranjan Kumar Sinha has also completely banned educational activities up to class 8th in all government and private schools till June 27, 2026. This order will be applicable to government schools, private schools, pre-schools (play schools and nurseries etc.). The District Magistrate has given strict instructions to all the school managements to reschedule their educational activities in accordance with this order.

Gaya District Magistrate Shashank Subhankar has issued an order saying that all educational activities up to class 8th in all government and non-government schools, pre-schools, Anganwadi centers and coaching institutes will be banned from 22 to 25 June 2026. Keeping in view the health and safety of the students, this order has been issued under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defense Code 2023. However, instructions have been issued to conduct classes from 9th to 12th only till 11:00. Action will be taken against the school steering committee that does not comply with the order.

Saran DM Vaibhav Srivastava has banned all educational activities till June 27. This order has been implemented on Anganwadi centers and coaching institutes along with government and private schools. Gopalganj District Magistrate Pawan Kumar Sinha has issued an order under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS), banning pre-school, Anganwadi centers and educational activities from class 1 to 5 in all government and private schools of the district till June 27, 2026.
