Manchester City legend Kyle Walker and his wife Annie Kilner have joyfully welcomed their fifth child, a baby girl, marking a new and happy chapter in their lives following a period of intense public attention regarding their personal affairs.
A new milestone for the Walker family
According to reports from The Sun, the former Manchester City and England defender, who currently plays for Burnley, was present for the birth. The couple, who are already parents to four sons, have now welcomed their first daughter.
Confirming the news, Kilner shared a heartfelt message: “Our precious baby girl is here safe. Speechless with the amount of love we all feel and the joy she’s already brought to our family.”
Facing challenges off the field
Walker recently commented that the national media had crossed boundaries in their coverage of his personal life. He expressed particular frustration that his wife, whom he described as “a normal girl from Sheffield”, and their children were followed by paparazzi during a difficult period in their marriage.
Despite the media scrutiny, the couple have stayed united and focused on their family. A source told The Sun that “Kyle and Annie are over the moon to have welcomed a little girl into the family home,” adding that they are “on cloud nine” as they begin this new stage together.
Retirement from international football and career transition
On the professional front, Walker has also experienced major changes. The 35-year-old announced his retirement from international football in March after an illustrious career with the England national team. Walker earned 96 caps for his country, having made his debut against Spain in 2011, and featured in five major tournaments from Euro 2016 to Euro 2024.
In a statement marking his retirement, Walker said: “Playing for England has always been the greatest honour of my career. Every time I pulled on the shirt it meant a huge amount to me and my family. After a lot of thought, this feels like the right moment to step away and allow the next generation of players to come through.” Since then, he has taken up a role as a columnist, providing expert analysis on the national team’s progress under Thomas Tuchel.
The road ahead with Burnley and beyond
Walker is currently a key player for Burnley, where his contract runs until the summer of 2027. While continuing to perform at a high level, the experienced full-back is also preparing for life after football by working towards his coaching qualifications. He has expressed a strong desire to contribute to the sport by helping young footballers cope with the psychological demands of professional play.
Reflecting on his future, Walker mentioned that he sees coaching as “a string to my bow”, though he remains uncertain about entering management immediately. For now, his attention is firmly set on his commitments at Turf Moor and his growing family, as he and Annie embrace life with five children.
