The demand for electricity is continuously increasing amid the scorching heat in Uttar Pradesh. With this it is also creating a new record, says the Energy Minister. In UP, Energy Minister AK Sharma claimed that the demand for electricity in the state has now reached 32,348 MW. He described it as the state with the highest demand for electricity in the entire country. According to the minister, earlier the demand for electricity was around 12-13 thousand MW, which has now increased to more than 32 thousand MW. Despite this, the government is continuously providing electricity without any interruption. However, contrary to the minister's claim, people in many areas are troubled by power cuts.
According to Minister AK Sharma, efforts are being made to ensure 24 hours of electricity supply in urban areas even during the peak of summer, while in rural areas also electricity is being provided for 22 to 22.5 hours as per the prescribed roster. He said that wherever the supply is affected due to technical fault, natural causes or local obstacles, departmental employees are busy day and night in repair work.
However, amid the increasing demand, complaints of local power cuts and low-voltage have also been coming to light from many areas of the state. The opposition has been continuously raising questions on the government regarding the power system, but Energy Minister AK Sharma says that meeting the record level demand is proof that the state's energy system has become more efficient than before. People also demonstrated against power cuts at many places including Lucknow.
According to the data of the Energy Department, in recent times UP has continuously broken its old records. Earlier, it was claimed to meet the demand of more than 31 thousand MW in the state, whereas now the maximum demand is said to have increased to 32,348 MW. Energy Minister AK Sharma says that the department is working with full preparation to provide better electricity services to the consumers in the coming times.
Energy Minister AK Sharma said, 'Increasing demand is a sign of development. The need for electricity is increasing due to industry, agriculture, domestic consumption and urbanization. Our aim is that no consumer of the state faces shortage of electricity and adequate supply is available at every time of need.
