Mumbai : The ruling Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra has won a landslide victory in the Legislative Council elections. In the results declared on Monday, the alliance won 16 out of 17 seats. Voting for these 17 seats took place on June 18. However, even before the voting, 6 candidates of Mahayuti had been elected unopposed, due to which the alliance had already got the lead. In this election, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the largest party by winning 11 seats, while Shinde faction's Shiv Sena won three and Ajit Pawar's NCP won two seats.

Rebel Gokul Geete did a big game in Nashik
The only seat which did not come to Mahayuti's account was that of Nashik. Here BJP rebel and independent candidate Gokul Geete defeated Shiv Sena candidate Narendra Darade. This victory of Geete is being considered as a big blow for Shiv Sena.
These 6 candidates won without elections
- The candidates elected unopposed include Shiv Sena's Ravindra Phatak (Thane) and Dushyant Chaturvedi (Yavatmal), NCP's Aniket Tatkare (Raigad-Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg) and Vikram Kakade (Pune), and BJP's Arun Lakhani (Wardha-Chandrapur-Gadchiroli) and Prajakt Tanpure (Ahilyanagar).
- Other winning BJP candidates include Suhas Shirsat (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar-Jalna), Avinash Brahmankar (Bhandara-Gondiya), Dhairyasheel Kadam (Sangli-Satara), Rajendra Raut (Solapur), Basavaraj Patil (Dharashiv-Latur-Beed), Rajiv Potdar (Nagpur), Nandkishore Mahajan (Jalgaon), Praveen Pote (Amravati) and Amar Rajurkar. (Nanded). Shiv Sena's Syed Khan won from Parbhani-Hingoli seat.
Tsunami of Mahayuti in Legislative Council elections
- With these results, Mahayuti's hold on the local self-government institutions of Maharashtra has become stronger. This is being seen as a major political success for the ruling coalition ahead of the upcoming elections in the state.
- On Maharashtra MLC elections, Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Council and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Ambadas Danve said, "We fought well. We are fighting to save the Constitution." (ANI)
