The Haryana government is committed to enhancing yoga education across schools, universities, and government recruitment tests. This initiative aims to ensure that candidates preparing for government positions will need to familiarize themselves with yoga topics. The state views yoga as a vital aspect of Indian culture and lifestyle, prompting the launch of various initiatives to bolster yoga education and research.
The government has confirmed that yoga questions will be featured in all future HSSC and HPSC examinations. This initiative seeks to engage youth with the significance of yoga and to promote awareness of Indian traditions. The government believes that increased knowledge of yoga will contribute to the physical and mental well-being of young individuals, thus its integration into recruitment exams.
To further support yoga and naturopathy research and training, a state-level Institute of Naturopathy and Yoga will be established in Morni. This institute is expected to become a central hub for yoga-related activities, wellness education, and research, providing valuable opportunities for students and researchers.
Additionally, the Haryana government plans to incorporate yoga as a fundamental element in five Centers of Excellence being set up at various universities. These centers will focus on promoting research, training, and educational activities related to yoga, thereby reinforcing its significance in higher education.
During a yoga event in Sirsa district, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini emphasized that yoga is a priceless gift from Indian culture, handed down by sages for the benefit of humanity. He acknowledged that yoga has gained global recognition, largely due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts, leading to the United Nations declaring June 21 as International Yoga Day in 2014, with support from 177 countries. Today, yoga is recognized worldwide as a crucial practice for health and balanced living.
