Manchester United rediscovered their attacking rhythm during the 2025/26 season after investing heavily in their forward line the previous summer. The Red Devils concluded their Premier League campaign with 69 goals in 38 matches — the third-highest tally in England’s top division, trailing only Arsenal and Manchester City.

New arrivals Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko all reached double-digit goal figures, marking a notable achievement. Club captain Bruno Fernandes was equally instrumental, registering 21 assists — the highest number ever recorded in a single Premier League season — and playing a key role in United’s third-place finish.

Although the club’s primary focus this summer is on strengthening the midfield, speculation regarding additional attacking options continues, particularly with Joshua Zirkzee’s future still unresolved. As United prepare for a return to the UEFA Champions League under its revamped format, squad depth will be critical in what promises to be a demanding season.

This congested fixture schedule highlights the need for more attacking firepower, and earlier reports from The Peoples Person have linked Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen with a potential move to Old Trafford.

Osimhen previously spent four productive seasons at Napoli before sealing a move to Galatasaray in the summer of 2024. The Nigerian forward played a pivotal role in Napoli’s Serie A title triumph during the 2022/23 season before circumstances changed at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Initially joining the Turkish giants on a season-long loan, Osimhen made an instant impact, helping Galatasaray secure both the league championship and the Turkish Cup in his debut season. His performances convinced the club to make his move permanent for a reported €75 million fee last summer.

At 27 years of age, Osimhen was once again decisive last season, contributing 22 goals and eight assists across 33 appearances as Galatasaray successfully defended their league crown.

Osimhen has long been on Manchester United’s radar, and his consistent goal-scoring record continues to fuel transfer speculation. However, recent developments suggest that Galatasaray are determined to retain their star striker, even considering offering him the captain’s armband to ensure he remains in Istanbul.

According to journalist Süleyman Rodop, who spoke to Turkish outlet Haber Sarı Kırmızı, Galatasaray have set a staggering €150 million (£130 million) valuation for Osimhen. Rodop stated, “Galatasaray will not consider any offer for Victor Osimhen below 150 million euros.”

With Osimhen contracted to the Turkish club until 2029, Galatasaray maintain a strong negotiating position. The Nigerian international’s proven record in the Champions League — with 16 goals and four assists in 27 appearances — makes him an attractive prospect for any top European side, including Manchester United.

Nevertheless, the Red Devils are operating under strict financial constraints this summer and are expected to prioritise midfield reinforcements before the upcoming campaign. Given the hefty asking price, a move for Osimhen appears highly improbable at this stage.

While pairing Sesko with a prolific striker like Osimhen could have strengthened United’s attack, it would likely have reduced the Slovenian’s playing opportunities. Therefore, United may be better served targeting an experienced forward capable of supporting Sesko’s development and providing reliable backup throughout the season.
