New Delhi: A big relief news has come out for Aadhar card holders. A new feature is being added to the Aadhaar app from July 1, 2026, with the help of which users will be able to update the email address linked to their Aadhaar for free. Usually a fee has to be paid for this service, but this facility will be available without any fee for the next six months.
Under the new system, no fee will be charged for updating email address through Aadhaar app from July 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026. This facility is being launched for a limited time so that more and more people can update their Aadhaar records.
However, this discount will be applicable only on updates made through the Aadhaar app. If a person updates the email through the website or Aadhaar Seva Kendra, he will have to pay the normal fee.
The email address linked to Aadhaar is useful for many important services. Through this, users keep getting updates, notifications and security information to Aadhaar on time.
Many online processes may also require OTP sent over email. In such a situation, people whose email is not linked to Aadhaar or who have recently changed their email can take advantage of this facility.
To use this facility, it is necessary to have a smartphone and internet connection. Android users’ phones should have Android 9.0 or above, while iPhone users will need iOS 16 or above.
Users can choose the email verification option by visiting the Aadhaar app or online service. After entering the Aadhaar number and mobile number there, you will get information about which email address is linked to Aadhaar.
Many facilities like updating mobile number, changing address, biometric lock or unlocking, downloading e-Aadhaar and tracking application status are already available through the Aadhaar app. However, the prescribed fee for updating name, address and other personal information will continue to be applicable as before.
