Punjab government will now give an honorarium of Rs 10,000 every month to all the sarpanches. During the Sarpanch Meet program organized in Bathinda on Wednesday, CM Bhagwant Mann made this announcement and gave a big gift to the Sarpanches of about 13 thousand Pindas of the state. On the other hand, Aam Aadmi Party's national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has congratulated all the sarpanches of Punjab, calling this decision historic. He said that this is a historic decision which only the Aam Aadmi Party can take. For the first time in the country, Sarpanches will get this much salary. Congratulations to Bhagwant Maan Sahib for taking this decision.

Addressing the Sarpanch Meet program organized in Bathinda. CM Bhagwant Mann Said that the country got independence on 15th August and on 15th August 2027 it will be 80 years since the country got independence. The country became independent on 15 August and the foundation of democracy was laid in the country. Sarpanch is the first brick of the foundation of democracy, but it is Sarpanch who has been maligned the most.

Bhagwant Mann Sarpanch

Approximately Rs 14 crore will be spent every month

Bhagwant Mann said that the Sarpanch should consider me as his younger or elder brother, son or nephew. From this 15th August, Rs 10,000 will be credited to the account of every Sarpanch. Call it an honorarium of Rs 10 thousand, call it a salary or call it tea-water, call it whatever you want, now the Sarpanches will get Rs 10 thousand every month.

Bhagwant Mann said that there are more than 13,000 villages in Punjab, even if 14 thousand are considered, then it works out to about Rs 14 crore per month. Rs 14 crore per month would mean an annual expenditure of around Rs 150 crore, which is not a big deal for the government. At least this will maintain the respect of the Sarpanches and they will not have to look here and there for money.

Many villages do not have Panchayat lands at all

Bhagwant Mann told that many villages and panchayats have a lot of land, from which money comes for contracts etc. and the work of the Sarpanch is done. But many villages do not have Panchayat lands at all, the income there is zero and then the Sarpanch is infamous. Therefore, from this 15th August, an honorarium of Rs 10 thousand per month will come into the accounts of the Sarpanches.
