Importance of cleaning the doors of the house

New Delhi: When we clean our home, we often focus on floors, windows, and furniture, but cleaning doors is often ignored. Due to daily use, dust, dirt, oil and spices, a layer of dirt accumulates on the doors. Black stains and stickiness start appearing especially on the handles and edges, which can affect the beauty of the entire house.

home remedies for cleaning

Many people use expensive cleaners to clean doors, but these can sometimes damage the wood polish or paint. Instead, the doors can be easily cleaned using some common ingredients present in the kitchen.

How to clean?

A mixture of white vinegar and olive oil is very effective for cleaning wooden doors. For this, mix half a cup of white vinegar and half a cup of olive oil or coconut oil and fill it in a spray bottle. Spray this mixture on the door and wipe it with a cotton cloth after a few minutes. The vinegar helps loosen grime, while the oil adds shine and moisture to the wood.

Ways to remove stubborn stains

If stubborn grime has accumulated around door corners or handles, make a paste of baking soda and liquid dish soap. Apply this paste on the dirty area and leave it for about 10 minutes. Then clean gently with an old and soft toothbrush. This will remove the accumulated dirt easily.

Tips to remove stains

Rust and black stains are a common problem on iron or steel doors. Use lemon and salt to clean such doors. Apply some salt on half a lemon and rub it gently on the stained area. This will help in removing rust and dirt.

Importance of regular cleaning

Experts believe that regular cleaning of doors prevents thick layer of dirt from accumulating and also increases their lifespan. Light cleaning once a week and deep cleaning once a month can keep doors looking new for a longer period of time.
