Bayern Munich are reportedly preparing to hand Michael Olise a highly lucrative new contract in an attempt to fend off strong transfer interest from Real Madrid. The Bundesliga giants are determined to hold on to the French winger, who has caught the eye with his performances at the World Cup, by significantly raising his salary and extending his deal until 2031 amid growing talk of a potential big-money move.

Real Madrid target Olise

Olise has been in scintillating form for France at the World Cup, notching two assists in a 3-0 win over Iraq and setting up another goal against Senegal. His impressive international showing comes on the back of an outstanding 2025-26 campaign with Bayern Munich, during which he recorded 26 assists.

However, his future has become a major talking point. Several reports suggest that Real Madrid have a keen interest in signing the winger. Florentino Pérez recently hinted at a €150 million offer for a player outside the Premier League, widely believed to be Olise, though he later denied the speculation. Paris Saint-Germain are also reportedly monitoring the situation, but according to Bild, Bayern have made it clear that Olise is not for sale at any price.

Bayern Munich ready a major contract offer

To ward off Real Madrid’s advances, Bayern are planning to table an improved long-term deal. Journalist Christian Falk revealed that the Bavarian club intend to tie Olise down until 2031 and are willing to nearly double his current wages to ensure he remains at the Allianz Arena.

“You know the saying, when in trouble, double it,” Falk remarked. “The trouble comes from Real Madrid – they are desperate to get him, and they know just how exceptional he has been in the Bundesliga this season. He was named Player of the Year in Germany and has undergone a remarkable rise since his €50 million transfer from Crystal Palace.”

Restructuring the wage scale

The proposed new deal would make Olise one of Bayern Munich’s top earners. Falk explained that the Frenchman’s current salary is relatively modest compared to other attacking stars in the squad.

According to Falk, because Olise’s transfer fee was far lower than the €100 million Bayern paid for Harry Kane, his current contract is not as lucrative as those of Kane or Jamal Musiala. “He’s somewhere in the middle of the squad’s wage structure, earning around €15 million,” Falk said. “Now, of course, he’s become one of the most crucial players in the starting XI, so he deserves a pay rise. That’s why Bayern are ready to increase his salary, and in return, they hope the French international will commit to a few more years. In Germany, contracts can run for up to five years, so the plan is to extend his deal until 2031. If that happens, he could earn closer to the top tier of Bayern players, around €25 million per year.”

What lies ahead for Olise?

While Bayern continue working behind the scenes to finalise the bumper contract extension, Olise remains focused on his international duties. France are set to face Norway in their final group-stage match, with both sides level on six points. The winner will top the group, while a draw will secure first place for France. Once the World Cup concludes, Bayern are expected to accelerate talks to officially tie Olise down until 2031.
