Mirzapur fans assemble, as the much-awaited teaser of Mirzapur: The Movie has finally dropped, and it is nothing short of bhaukaal on the internet.

If you have watched the Mirzapur series, it revolves around the city of Mirzapur, the crime, the chaos and the drama that ensues. Though it’s fictional, many characters portrayed by the actors somehow resonate with real incidents that happen in the city.
The first teaser of Mirzapur: The Movie brings the fierce gang rivalry between Munna Tripathi and Guddu Pandit to the big screen. The film, a prequel to the Amazon Prime Video show, sees the return of Divyenndu’s Munna and Bablu Pandit, who is now played by Jitendra Kumar.
The story is set in 2018, before the events unfolded in Season 1. This means Munna, who died at the end of Season 2, is alive in the film. Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) is worried that his son Munna is not the ideal heir to his throne. Meanwhile, the Pandit brothers — Guddu (Ali Fazal) and Bablu (Jitendra Kumar)- are on their own path to dismantle Munna’s empire and establish themselves as the kings of Mirzapur.
The teaser introduces a new character played by Ravi Kishan.
The teaser opens with Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) talking about his son, sarcastically. Cut to Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal) holding a gun.
Munna Bhaiya (Divyenndu) is seen whistling. Needless to say, his dramatic and grand entry will be met with whistles in the cinema halls.
In another sequence, Guddu Pandit says, “Hum hi chala rahe Kaleen Bhaiya ke empire” (We are the ones running Kaleen Bhaiya’s empire). A new character played by Jitendra Kumar, sitting beside him in a car, replies, “Humein empire chalana nahi hai, Guddu Bhaiya, empire banana hai” (We don’t want to run an empire, Guddu Bhaiya; we have to build one).
The teaser then features several brutal action sequences inside a desert tent, showing knife attacks, a throat being slit and intense combat. The gruesome bloodshed unfolds against the backdrop of sun-drenched dunes and vast desert landscapes, with a convoy of white SUVs driving through the terrain.

The teaser also offers glimpses of key female characters, including Shweta Tripathi (Golu Gupta) and Rasika Dugal (Beena Tripathi).
Netizens have shared mixed reactions to the teaser. Some questioned why Divyenndu had returned while Vikrant Massey did not. Vikrant played Bablu Pandit in Mirzapur Season 1 before his character was killed in the finale. While the film brings Bablu back, the character is now played by Jitendra Kumar.
“Vikrant Massey missed,” wrote one viewer.
The next one wrote, “ONLY here for our Jeetu Bhaiyaaa!!!”
Some viewers also felt that the story would have worked better as another season and that a film wasn’t really needed.
Mirzapur premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2018 and became an instant success. Two more seasons followed in 2020 and 2024. Season 3 received criticism for its slow pace and plot.
