This arrest was made by the General Administration of Community Security. The administration said that this action was taken to maintain the security and morality of the society in the area. Local authorities in Saudi Arabia are constantly keeping an eye on such gangs and illegal activities.

Rules and punishment for prostitution in Saudi Arabia

According to Saudi Arabian law, prostitution is completely prohibited. It is considered a violation of the principles of Islamic Shariat and is categorized as ‘Zina’. There is a provision of strict punishment if caught in this crime:

  • If found guilty, jail sentences and heavy fines are imposed.
  • Foreign nationals are deported from the country after completion of their sentence.
  • If found to be a case of human trafficking or forced labor, the punishment can be up to 15 years in prison under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2009.

The Public Prosecution in Saudi Arabia monitors all activities that go against religious and public morality. Many such arrests have been made in the Tabuk area in the recent past, which makes it clear that the authorities are very strict in this matter.

Especially Indian expatriates living in Saudi Arabia should keep in mind that they completely follow the local laws here. Involvement in any kind of illegal activity can not only result in loss of job but also can lead to permanent deportation from the country.
