New Delhi. The Government of India has increased the fees for making passport. The new fees will be applicable from July 1, 2026. An official notification regarding this has been issued by the Ministry of External Affairs. The government has fixed this new fee by making changes in the Passport Rules, 1980.
After the implementation of the new fees on July 1, the additional burden of Rs 1,000 will increase on the applicants. The fee for a 36-page ordinary passport has been increased from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500. At the same time, the fee for Tatkal service, which was earlier Rs 3,500, has now become Rs 5,000.
Under the new system, fees for different categories of passport applications have been fixed, so that the fee structure can be made easy and clear. It has also been clarified in the new rules that minors aged between 15 to 18 years, who apply in the adult category, will also have to pay the same fees as is applicable for adults.
