Liverpool appear poised for more disappointment in their efforts to sign RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, as the German club continue to resist their advances in the transfer market.
The Reds have already submitted an £87 million bid for the Ivory Coast international, which was rejected. Reports from Sky Sports suggest that even an offer reaching £100 million may not be sufficient to convince Leipzig to part ways with their star player.
Diomande, who is capable of operating effectively on either flank, is currently representing Ivory Coast at the World Cup and has drawn widespread praise for his performances on football’s biggest stage.
During the previous Bundesliga campaign, the 22-year-old registered 12 goals and eight assists across 28 starts, underlining his growing influence and attacking threat.
Meanwhile, Manchester City have reportedly entered fresh discussions with Nottingham Forest regarding a potential move for midfielder Elliot Anderson, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Forest are said to value Anderson at £130 million. The English midfielder, who is also part of England’s World Cup squad, was a key figure for Forest last season, starting in 37 Premier League matches.
City view Anderson as an ideal long-term midfield partner for Spanish international Rodri, and it is understood that the player himself is open to making the switch to the Etihad Stadium.
In other managerial developments, Craig Bellamy’s proposed appointment as Burnley manager has reportedly collapsed, as per Sky Sports. The Welsh coach had been widely tipped to take charge of the Championship club ahead of the new season, but the move now appears unlikely to go through.
Burnley have now turned their attention to alternative managerial options, with former Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper and Luton Town manager Rob Edwards among the names being considered for the position.
