The biggest increase in searches for accommodation in Vietnam in the first five months of 2026 was in China, according to Agoda.

Data from the online travel platform showed that searches in China were up 164% year-on-year.

Indonesia was second with an 86% rise and the Philippines followed closely at 82%.

Thailand also posted strong growth, with searches increasing by 65%.

Vietnam received a record 10.6 million foreign visitors in the first five months, up 14.9%, according to the General Statistics Office.

China was the largest source of visitors with 2.29 million, or for 21% of total foreign arrivals.

Tourism industry experts attributed the strong growth in Chinese arrivals to competitive travel costs and saturation marketing in that country.
