Juventus and Roma are preparing for a fierce transfer showdown over Mason Greenwood, with reports indicating that the forward’s future has become a major focal point in the Serie A transfer window. The Bianconeri are now ready to rival Roma for the 24-year-old attacker after his outstanding season in Ligue 1 with Marseille.

Juventus closely monitoring situation to prepare counter-offer

As per reports from Calciomercato, Juventus have stepped up their interest in the dynamic English winger, closely observing developments around Greenwood’s situation before making an official move. The Turin-based club has long admired Greenwood’s talent and is prepared to act swiftly should an opportunity arise to secure his signature.

This sudden approach from the Allianz Stadium has created a significant challenge for Roma, whose negotiations with Marseille have reached an impasse. Talks between the French club and the Giallorossi have stalled over Marseille’s firm €50 million plus add-ons valuation, which Roma have so far been reluctant to meet.

Roma readying major offer to outbid Juventus

Determined not to lose their top transfer target, Roma are formulating a new plan to counter Juventus’ growing interest. The capital club already has a verbal agreement in place with Greenwood’s representatives over personal terms, but discussions with Marseille remain deadlocked due to the French side’s financial demands.

In reaction to Juventus’ move, Roma are reportedly preparing an enhanced proposal exceeding the €50 million threshold. The intent is to fulfil the requirements of manager Gian Piero Gasperini, who views the former Manchester United forward as a key component of his tactical vision for the upcoming season.

Kone’s potential exit could influence Greenwood negotiations

Roma’s efforts to sign Greenwood are intricately tied to another transfer storyline involving midfielder Manu Kone. The Giallorossi are open to offloading the Frenchman to raise funds for Greenwood’s acquisition, with both Arsenal and Chelsea expressing strong interest in Kone. However, the player is reportedly inclined towards a dream move to Paris Saint-Germain rather than a switch to the Premier League, potentially complicating Roma’s financial manoeuvring.

Fenerbahce step back following leadership change

Earlier, Turkish giants Fenerbahce were also in the race to sign Greenwood, but their pursuit has cooled considerably. The club had agreed in principle to a lucrative deal worth €12 million per season for the forward, contingent on the election victory of presidential hopeful Hakan Safi. Following Safi’s defeat in the club’s recent elections, the arrangement collapsed.

Incoming president Aziz Yildirim remains a fan of Greenwood’s abilities but is not prepared to meet the same extravagant salary terms proposed earlier. As a result, Fenerbahce have effectively withdrawn from the competition, leaving Juventus and Roma to battle it out for Greenwood’s signature in what promises to be one of Serie A’s most gripping transfer tussles of the summer.
