Vande Bharat Sleepers now have 'Pet Box' available for pets. Booking is done at the station, not online. Book 3 hours in advance with confirmed ticket and required documents. Pets will be kept in separate boxes instead of cabins.

New Delhi: You can now book 'Pet Box' for your pets in Vande Bharat Sleeper trains. According to reports, in this special service, a safe and closed space is provided for pets. These boxes are near the locomotive (engine) at both ends of the train. However, this facility cannot be booked online. For this, passengers will have to book pet box at the railway station itself. To avail this facility, passengers will have to visit the parcel or luggage office of the train departure station. The officials present there will book a pet box for your dog or cat. To avoid any delay, it is important that you complete the booking process at least three hours before the train departure time.

Must have confirmed ticket

To book pet box in Vande Bharat Sleeper train, a passenger must have a confirmed ticket. RAC or waiting list tickets will not be valid for this service. Additionally, passengers will also need to submit certain documents, such as a recent veterinary fitness certificate (generated within 24-48 hours of travel) and valid pet vaccination records. The price of pet box will be decided based on the weight of the animal. Its charge is around Rs 30 per kilogram. After payment, passengers will receive a luggage ticket as booking confirmation.

Not allowed in passenger cabin

Under this facility, pets will be kept at a fixed place at both ends of the train. They will not be allowed to be taken inside the passenger cabin. One thing to note is that the charge for booking a pet box is non-refundable, that is, it will not be refunded. Also, only one pet is allowed on one PNR. Therefore, it would be better to book in advance. Additionally, this service may not be available on all routes, so passengers should confirm its availability on their train and route before travelling.
