On Friday, CCTV cameras were taken down from the government residence of former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi, located at 10 Circular Road, as the process of vacating the property was underway. These security cameras, which had been installed outside the residence, were removed during daylight hours. Prior to this, trucks were seen loading items from the house.

The Bihar Building Construction Department had issued a final ultimatum to Rabri Devi on Thursday, demanding that she vacate her official residence by June 29. Failure to comply would result in legal action under the Bihar Government Premises Act.

Notice Issued for Immediate Vacating

The notice was issued on June 22, providing a seven-day deadline for her to clear the premises. The department warned that strict measures would be taken if the residence was not vacated within the stipulated time. The notice also referenced several reminders previously sent to Rabri Devi regarding this matter, along with details about the allocation of another residence at 39 Harding Road.

Earlier, in May 2026, the Bihar government had notified Rabri Devi to vacate the bungalow at 10 Circular Road within 15 days. On May 29, the government reiterated its demand for the RJD leader to leave the official bungalow. However, Rabri Devi stated that she would not vacate her residence in Patna, asserting in conversations with reporters that she would not leave despite government orders. She remarked, "They can call in force to evict me, but I will not vacate the house."

Historical Significance of the Residence

The bungalow at 10 Circular Road has long been associated with the family of RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav. Rabri Devi conducted her duties as Chief Minister from this residence, which has served as a significant political base for the Rashtriya Janata Dal.
