Every year, lakhs of students take the NEET exam with the dream of becoming doctors. However, not everyone secures a seat in a medical college. Many students become disheartened, feeling their dreams have been shattered. But the story of 20-year-old Rituparna KS from Karnataka is different...

Rituparna also dreamt of becoming a doctor. She took the NEET exam but failed to secure an MBBS seat in a government medical college. Although initially disappointed, she chose not to give up and decided to pursue a different path instead. She enrolled in the Robotics and Automation Engineering program at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management in Mangaluru.

Initially, this was merely an alternative option for her, but it soon evolved into a genuine interest and passion. During her college years, she worked hard not only on her academics but also on various new projects and research initiatives. She developed a robotics project related to areca nut farming to assist farmers; this project garnered international acclaim. Additionally, she continuously honed her skills by participating in numerous research projects and technology programs.

Opportunity at Rolls-Royce

The biggest breakthrough resulting from her hard work came when she secured an internship with the jet engine manufacturing division of Rolls-Royce, the world-renowned aerospace and engineering company. During the internship, she was assigned a challenging project. Rituparna completed the task well ahead of schedule. Impressed by her performance, the company extended her internship and subsequently offered her a pre-placement position.

Secured a massive package

According to reports, Rituparna has now secured an annual package of ₹72.3 lakh. Having secured a job at a major global company at such a young age, she has become an inspiration for students across the country.

What did Rituparna say?

Rituparna was also among the 15 students selected for the DC Fellowship Programme. This program prepares young people to find solutions to real-world problems facing society and industry. Rituparna says that her studies, research projects, and interview preparation played a crucial role in her achieving this success.
