Safety of wooden furniture: It is nice to enjoy tea and pakodas during the rainy season, but during this time it is a challenge to protect wooden furniture from fungus and moisture. Common problems are accumulation of white fungus on expensive wooden furniture during rains, strange smell coming from cupboards or drawers becoming tight. If timely attention is not given, your expensive furniture may get damaged. If you want to keep your furniture safe, here are some simple and effective solutions.

Maintain distance from the wall:
Walls absorb more moisture during rainy days. If your sofa, bed or wardrobe is close to a wall, moisture from the wall will quickly penetrate the wood. Keep expensive furniture at least 6 to 7 inches away from the wall.

Uses of camphor and naphthalene balls:
It is important to protect the clothes and wood inside the wardrobe from fungus. Keep naphthalene tablets or pieces of camphor in the corners of the cupboard. Camphor absorbs moisture and its fragrance keeps away fungal germs.

silica gel:
Silica gel sachets are very effective in absorbing moisture. Keep them inside your cupboards, drawers or expensive cabinets.

Ventilation and sunlight:
When the sun is out, open the windows of your house to let in fresh air and light. If there is good air flow (ventilation) in the house, moisture will not persist.
