India out of T20 World Cup 2026, Australia defeated by 6 wickets

The 30th match of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 was played between India and Australia on June 28 at Lord’s Ground in London. In this match, the Indian team had to face defeat by 6 wickets. With this defeat, Team India’s journey in T20 World Cup 2026 also ended. Australia performed brilliantly and won the match. Along with Australia, South Africa also got the benefit of India’s defeat and both the teams confirmed their place in the semi-finals.

 

In the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, the Indian team registered spectacular victories against Pakistan, Netherlands and Bangladesh. However, it had to face defeat by 6-6 wickets at the hands of South Africa and Australia. For this reason, Team India was forced to end its campaign by finishing third in the points table with 6 points and a net run rate of +1.718.

 

India’s innings

The Indian team won the toss and decided to bat first. The team had a great start and added 43 runs without losing any wicket. After this, the batting slowed down a bit in the middle overs, where the team scored 68 runs losing 2 wickets. However, Indian batsmen scored a lot of runs in the death overs. In 16 to 20 overs, the team lost only 1 wicket and added 59 runs. Due to this strong finish, India scored a strong score of 170 runs at the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs.

 

For India, captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored the highest score of 56 runs. Whereas Smriti Mandhana played an inning of 38 runs. Apart from this, Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues contributed 34-34 runs. For Australia, only Sophie Molineux was successful in taking wickets and she dismissed 2 batsmen. Smriti Mandhana returned to the pavilion after being run out, while Jemimah Rodrigues retired and left the field due to injury.

Australia’s innings

Australia did not have a good start while chasing the target and the team lost its first wicket in the very first over. However, after this the batsmen handled the innings brilliantly. By the end of the powerplay, Australia had scored 49 runs for 1 wicket. After this, the team continued batting well in the middle overs also. Between 7 and 15 overs, Australia lost 2 wickets and added 76 runs. In the death overs, the team scored 47 runs after losing 1 wicket. On the basis of excellent batting, Australia scored 172 runs at the loss of 4 wickets in 19 overs and won the match by 6 wickets with 6 balls remaining.

 

 

For Australia, Ellyse Perry played the highest innings of 56 runs, while Ashley Gardner remained unbeaten after scoring 53 runs. Apart from these, Phebe Lichfield contributed 24 runs and Beth Mooney contributed 22 runs. Whereas, from India’s side, Shri Charani took 2 wickets, while Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh got 1 wicket each.
