ITV is set to broadcast the opening knockout fixture of the 2026 World Cup.

Sunday will signal the start of the World Cup knockout rounds, featuring a contest between two nations who have never previously advanced beyond the group stage.

Canada secured second place in Group B behind Switzerland, collecting four points from their three matches, including an emphatic 6-0 win over Qatar.

South Africa, on the other hand, clinched their spot in the knockout stage with a 1-0 triumph over South Korea in their final Group A encounter, following defeats against Mexico and a last-minute draw with the Czech Republic.

The round of 32 will commence with Canada taking on South Africa at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, with kick-off scheduled for noon local time (8pm UK time).

ITV holds the UK broadcast rights for Sunday’s sole fixture, with coverage beginning at 7:15pm on ITV.

Laura Woods will anchor the broadcast from ITV’s state-of-the-art Brooklyn Studio, offering a stunning view of the Manhattan skyline. She will be accompanied by Bradley Wright-Phillips and Karen Carney, who will share their insights and analysis on the first match of the last-32 stage.

Joe Speight will lead the commentary team, with Lucy Ward providing co-commentary for this knockout encounter in Los Angeles.
