England opener Danni Wyatt-Hodge etched her name into the record books on Saturday, smashing the record for the most runs in a single Women's T20 World Cup edition with a sublime unbeaten 89 off 53 balls against New Zealand at The Oval.

Her knock, studded with 15 fours and a six at a strike rate of 167.92, powered the inaugural champions to a comfortable chase of 164 in their final Group 2 match of the 2026 tournament.

The 35-year-old, who became a mother earlier this year, now has 282 runs in five matches at an astonishing average of 94 and a strike rate of 153.26. She surpassed the previous record of 259, held by Australian legend Beth Mooney from the 2020 edition. Among England players, Nat Sciver-Brunt previously held the mark with 216 runs in 2023.

This wasn't Wyatt-Hodge's only highlight of the tournament. She had earlier smashed an unbeaten 105 off 62 balls against Sri Lanka in the opener, helping England post the highest team total in tournament history, 219 for 1. She also scored 65 off 42 balls against the West Indies. All three of her fifty-plus knocks have earned her Player of the Match honours.

With just 18 more runs, she would become the first batter to cross the 300-run mark in a single Women's T20 World Cup. England's semifinal opponents will be confirmed after Sunday's group-stage finale.
