Eight people, who allegedly embezzled donations from across the country for the grand temple of Maryada Purushottam Lord Shri Ram in Ayodhya, have finally been brought to justice. On Monday, the local court of Ayodhya sent all these accused to judicial custody for 14 days, due to which this alleged scam in the sacred offerings of Ram temple has created a stir in the political circles. This entire issue has now taken a political turn, where the opposition has launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led central government.
Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on Monday directly accused the BJP government of looting the country and committing alleged irregularities even in the name of Lord Ram. Sibal also said in his statements that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan of ‘Acche Din’ has now been proved false. Sibal shared a post on his social media platform He also went ahead and made an emotional appeal, “We will break such a regime, together we will unite the country, there will be no division of hearts, everyone’s country is our country.” This statement has come at a time when new layers are continuously being revealed in this matter to the faith of crores of people.
On the other hand, the opposition has also raised questions on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on this entire episode and has demanded strictest action against the culprits. The Congress party has also sought answers from the government on this serious issue. The party has said that this is not just a financial scam, but a betrayal of the trust of crores of countrymen. Congress reminded that the BJP had given the form of a national movement to the construction of Ram temple and under this, people from across the country had donated freely as per their devotion and capacity. In such a situation, news of irregularities in donations is going to break the trust of the people.
Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the Uttar Pradesh government took swift action. On the request of the temple trust, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed on June 13 to probe the allegations. This high level investigation team included senior officers like Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kiran S and Special Secretary of Finance Department Neel Ratan, who were given the responsibility of investigating this entire episode in depth.
Based on the in-depth report of the SIT, a total of eight people have been arrested in this case. The names of these arrested accused include Avinash Shukla, Anukalp Mishra, Luv Kush Mishra, Manish Kumar Yadav, Karunesh Pandey, Ram Shankar Mishra, Subhash Srivastava and Ramashankar alias Tinnu Yadav. All these accused were directly involved in the counting of cash and valuables donated to the Ram temple. The investigation is expected to gain further momentum after their arrest. This case is now not only an alleged theft, but has also become a topic of heated debate in the country’s politics.
