The administration is continuously taking action amid the shortage of fertilizer and urea during the Kharif season in Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh. After a large amount of illegal stock was found in a recent raid at a private fertilizer vendor, the administration has now taken action against a grocery shop in Sarra area.
During the raid, bags of NPK fertilizer and about 450 liters of diesel were recovered from the shop. The administration says that the matter is being investigated in depth. According to preliminary information, a complaint was received about illegal sale of fertilizer and urea at a grocery shop operating in Sarra.
After this the Tehsildar’s team reached the spot and investigated. During the action, 35 bags of NPK fertilizer and a large quantity of diesel were found from the shop. Officials say that this is only the initial seizure and the investigation may reveal an even bigger network. At present, the administration has taken the seized goods into its custody.
According to the administration, during the action it came to light that the shop operator was allegedly selling fertilizer, urea and diesel along with groceries. Considering this matter as serious, the Collector has instructed the Agriculture and Food Department for a detailed investigation. The investigation will find out from where the fertilizer stock was brought, to whom it was sold and whether other people are also involved in it.
Even before this, during raids on fertilizer sellers in Tendukheda area, illegal stock of about 600 bags of fertilizer was recovered. These actions taken in two consecutive days have indicated that the administration is adopting a strict stance against those who violate the rules to the supply of fertilizers in the district.
Officials say that after the completion of the investigation, if any kind of irregularity or black marketing is proved, then legal action will be taken against the concerned people and if necessary, the case will also be handed over to the police.
