On Tuesday, the Ministry of Women and Child Development organized the third preparatory meeting for the BRICS Women’s Working Group via a virtual platform, marking India's leadership in BRICS.
Anil Malik, the Secretary of Women and Child Development, led the meeting, emphasizing its importance in the lead-up to the BRICS Women Track events, which include the BRICS Women Working Group Meeting and the BRICS Women Ministerial Meeting scheduled for July 6 to 9 in Kochi, Kerala.
The discussions revolved around the theme of 'Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability,' focusing on advancing priority areas and key outcomes such as the Digital Repository of Best Practices and the BRICS Women’s Capacity Building Guidelines, as stated by the ministry.
Member countries of BRICS contributed their insights and reaffirmed their dedication to achieving collaborative and consensus-driven results.
The participating nations congratulated India on its BRICS chairmanship, commending the progress made within the Women Track and expressing ongoing support for initiatives aimed at empowering women.
Malik expressed gratitude to the delegations for their valuable contributions and reiterated India's commitment to fostering partnerships that enhance women-led development across BRICS nations.
The first preparatory meeting of the BRICS Women’s Working Group was held on April 30, 2026, also in a virtual format under India's BRICS Presidency.
