Often, the full benefits of government schemes fail to reach those in need due to a lack of information or discrepancies in government records. This has been a significant challenge, particularly concerning pregnant women, newborns, and young children. To address this issue, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has launched the PM-Family Care Tracker (PM-FCT) pilot project. The objective of this digital platform is to ensure that no eligible woman or child is deprived of the benefits of government schemes.
What is the PM-Family Care Tracker?
The PM-Family Care Tracker is a digital system designed to monitor a child's health, nutrition, and education from the prenatal stage until they turn 18. The platform operates by integrating records from various government departments. Simply put, the system consolidates data from the Health Department, the Department of Women and Child Development, and the Education Department. It provides information on approximately 16 government schemes in a single location.
These include:
Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana
Janani Suraksha Yojana
Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram
PM Poshan
Mission Vatsalya
Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana
PM CARES for Children, and
Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram, among other key schemes.
The Birth Registration Number will serve as the unique identifier for this system.
Alerts for Lapses
A key feature of the PM-Family Care Tracker is its alert system. For instance, if a child misses a polio vaccination, the Health Department is immediately notified. Similarly, if a girl child does not enroll in the fourth grade after completing the third, an alert is instantly sent to the school and relevant authorities. Additionally, the system enables the timely identification of malnourished children and those requiring special care.
Launched in Gandhinagar
This pilot project has currently been launched in the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency. If the outcome is positive, it could be implemented first across Gujarat and subsequently in other states as well. The government believes that this digital system will enhance both the monitoring of government schemes and transparency.
