Sumatran ELEPHANTS

Sumatran elephants are a type of Asian elephant, and their scientific name is elephas maximus sumatranus. They come from Sumatra. These elephants are the smallest among Asian elephants. They can be as long as 6 metres, and their height is between 1.5 to 2.7 metres. They are quite heavy, weighing around 5 tonnes

APPEARANCE

In terms of their appearance. Sumatran elephants have colourful skin with a few spots that are not coloured, and they are almost bald and gray. They are round in shape, with small ears and long trunks. Both male and female Sumatran elephants have tusks. Male tusks are visible but not very long, while female tusks are short and often hidden under their upper lip. Sometimes, female elephants don't have tusks at all. These big animals use their trunks for many things, like taking up water. grabbing objects, breathing, smelling, showering, and making sounds.
