Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra on Wednesday accused BJP workers of attacking her office in Krishnanagar by throwing eggs and vegetables. She gave this information by coming on Facebook Live and Moitra also shared a video on the social media platform X (Twitter), in which a crowd was seen throwing eggs at her. He alleged that BJP goons are attacking him under the supervision of West Bengal Police.
Moitra said, 'Look what is happening. This is a BJP crowd under police surveillance. I have been standing here for the last one hour. I have called the DGP and everyone else, but the police are sitting and watching. CRPF is also watching.
In the video he further said, 'This is my area. I am the MP here. I am in my office. I am not going to move from here. Please look at their faces. Tomorrow the West Bengal government will deny this. No police will take cognizance. No court will take cognizance. CRPF is watching everything.

Interestingly, this incident has occurred when the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday directed the West Bengal government to ensure that the police register FIRs in all incidents of egg throwing at persons accused in different cases or at political opponents.
In fact, while hearing a PIL seeking directions to stop the problem of throwing eggs at accused persons and political opponents in different parts of the state, a division bench of Acting Chief Justice Tapabrata Chakraborty and Justice Partha Sarathi Chatterjee said that the fundamental rights of an accused person cannot be taken away.
Last month too, a similar incident was about to happen with Mahua Moitra, but she was saved. On June 13, Moitra claimed that before her court appearance in connection with a case, BJP Mahila Morcha workers had gathered outside the Krishnanagar court with eggs and tomatoes. However, she did not appear in the court that day.
