New Delhi: With the onset of monsoon, the rainy season has started across the country. Along with this, while on one hand people have got relief from the scorching heat, on the other hand many new problems are also emerging in everyday life. Wet shoes and slippers become a big problem especially for those who go out for office, college or other important work. Wearing wet shoes for a long time can cause foot odor, fungal infections and skin problems. In such a situation, you can keep your shoes and feet safe by adopting some easy measures.

Keep these things before going out

If you have to go out in the rain, keep one or two big polythene bags in your bag. The effect of water and mud can be reduced to a great extent by covering shoes with polythene when it starts raining suddenly. This easy and low-cost method is very useful in emergencies.

leather shoes

Leather shoes can also prove to be a better option during the rainy season, but proper care of them is necessary. Applying waterproof spray or leather conditioner on shoes before wearing them creates a layer of protection on their surface, which reduces the effect of water. If leather shoes get wet, let them dry on their own at normal temperature instead of drying them in the sun, heater or near fire, as high heat can damage the leather.

wax polish

Use of wax polish is also considered beneficial to protect shoes from water. First of all, clean the shoes thoroughly and if there are any cuts or holes, repair them. After this, apply wax polish and let it dry for some time. This creates an additional protective layer on the shoes, which prevents rain water from getting inside to a great extent.

If your shoes get wet, fill them with newspaper as soon as you reach home. Newspaper absorbs excess moisture and helps the shoes dry quickly. At the same time, avoid drying the shoes with a hair dryer or any other appliance with high heat, as this can spoil their shape and quality.

foot care

During the rainy season, it is very important to take care not only of shoes but also of the feet. After returning from outside, wash your feet with clean water and dry them thoroughly. Along with this, anti-fungal powder can be used if needed. By adopting these small precautions, both feet and shoes can be kept safe during monsoon.
