Under the campaign being run against drug trafficking in Bihar, STF Purnia and Katihar Police have achieved great success. In a joint action, the police busted the interstate drug smuggling network and recovered 1 kg 950 grams of heroin worth about Rs 4 crore. During this period, six smugglers were arrested and three vehicles, six mobile phones and cash worth Rs 1 lakh were also seized.

The gang was active for a long time

According to the police, this gang was active in Bihar and West Bengal for a long time. Was supplying drugs in an organized manner. Police have recovered a Scorpio, a Bolero N and a Hyundai Venue car from the spot. The arrested smugglers include Mohan Kumar of Bilauri Stadobh village of Mufassil police station area of ​​Purnia district, Sadanand Kumar alias Shankar of Gopalganj Bilauri village and Shivam Kumar Thakur alias Takla.

 

Smuggling caught in Dhamdaha, Bhagalpur and Araria

Apart from this, Avinash Kumar alias Akash, resident of Mongolia Purndaha of Dhamdaha police station, Sunny Kumar alias Sameer, resident of Khalifabagh of Kotwali police station of Bhagalpur district and Amrish Kumar Yadav, resident of Dobhiya village of Kursakanta police station of Araria district have also been arrested. Everyone is being interrogated.

What happened?

In total, the police have recovered one kilo 950 grams of heroin worth approximately Rs four crore. Along with this, one Scorpio, one Bolero N, one Hyundai Venue, six mobile phones and cash worth Rs 1 lakh have been seized. The investigation of mobile phones is expected to reveal the names of many more smugglers.

The entire network was running from Bengal jail

Preliminary investigation has revealed that this gang was allegedly being operated on the instructions of smuggler Gaurav Shah, lodged in Malda jail, and Sajan Chaudhary, resident of Purnia. According to the police, Sajan Chaudhary used to import heroin from the North East region. It was prepared in the form of smack and brown sugar and consumed in many areas of Bihar and Bengal.

 

Investigating agencies say that Sajan Chaudhary has been jailed in several drug trafficking cases in the past also. After being released from jail, he established his network again. He used to constantly talk to Gaurav Shah, who was lodged in Malda jail. From there, instructions were received as to where to send the consignment.

 

Search for absconding accused intensified

Continuous raids are going on to arrest other absconding accused in the case. The criminal history of the arrested accused is also being investigated. The police team is investigating at all points. Bank accounts and assets will also be examined.

 

An STF official said that a campaign is being run to root out the drug trade in Bihar. Special vigil is being kept in the border districts. The first priority is to stop the consignment coming from North East.

 

Police believe that this gang was especially luring the youth into drug addiction. Smack and brown sugar packets were being sold near schools and colleges. One packet was sold for Rs 500 to Rs 1,000. This action is expected to break the back of big drug networks.
