Tezzbuzz Desk – The Election Commission of India has announced the dates of by-elections for three assembly seats in the three states Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. According to the Commission, voting on these seats will be held on July 30, while counting of votes will be done on August 3.
The Election Commission said that this by-election will be held in Bankipur assembly seat of Bihar, Datia of Madhya Pradesh and Manjalpur assembly seat of Gujarat. After these seats became vacant, the election process has been started and preparations have been intensified.
As per the official schedule, the by-election process will begin with the release of the notification on July 6. After this, candidates will be able to file nominations till July 13.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on July 14, while candidates will be able to withdraw their names till July 16. After this, voting will be held on July 30 and the results will be declared on August 3.
Bankipur seat of Bihar became vacant after the resignation of BJP’s newly elected national president Nitin Naveen. Datia seat of Madhya Pradesh fell vacant due to disqualification of Congress MLA Rajendra Bharti. Manjalpur seat of Gujarat became vacant after the death of BJP MLA Yogeshbhai Narayanbhai Patel.
With the announcement of election dates, the Model Code of Conduct has been implemented in the concerned areas. Under this, the government and political parties will be prohibited from making new announcements and activities that influence voters.
The Election Commission has said that VVPAT machines will be used along with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) at all polling stations, so that the voting process remains transparent and fair.
