Manchester United are reportedly intensifying their efforts to bolster their goalkeeping unit as the summer transfer window progresses.

Earlier today, reports suggested that United are actively pursuing Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Sam Johnstone as a potential replacement for Andre Onana. Now, it appears that another addition between the posts is on the horizon.

According to a report by the BBC, Wales Under-21 international Kit Margetson is on the verge of leaving Swansea City to join Manchester United on a free transfer.

The 19-year-old shot-stopper, who stands at an impressive 6’4″, is the son of Martyn Margetson — the former Swansea head of goalkeeping who departed the club at the conclusion of last season.

Margetson joined Swansea’s youth system at the under-15 level and, although he has yet to make his senior debut for the Championship side, he has shown considerable promise during his loan spell at Connah’s Quay Nomads in the 2025–26 season.

During that campaign, he caught the eye of United’s goalkeeping scout Tony Coton, who was spotted attending a Cymru Premier match in March to assess the young Welshman’s performance. Margetson went on to record 10 clean sheets in 34 appearances across all competitions for Connah’s Quay, further boosting his credentials.

It is understood that Swansea had opened discussions with Margetson earlier this year regarding a new contract, but they now expect him to depart. United are reportedly prepared to pay a compensation fee to secure his signature.

Meanwhile, The Sun has reported that Manchester United plan to loan Margetson to an English Football League club this summer, allowing him to gain valuable first-team experience and continue his development in senior football.

In addition to Margetson, United are also on the verge of finalising the transfer of Colombian youngster Cristian Orozco. The dynamic midfielder, who turns 18 this month, has reportedly travelled to England to undergo medical tests before his signing is officially announced.

Once the deal is completed, Orozco is expected to join Manchester United’s Under-21 squad for their pre-season training camp in Germany, where he will begin his integration into the club’s youth setup.
