Mumbai/Navi Mumbai: Nature has wreaked such havoc in the metropolitan Mumbai and its surrounding areas that the entire pace has come to a halt. The torrential rains that started in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai on Friday took a severe form in no time. From roads to railway tracks, only a sea of water is visible everywhere. In view of the seriousness of the situation, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has continued the orange alert for many districts including Mumbai till July 6, while the situation in the neighboring district Palghar is so serious that a red alert had to be declared there. The complete inside story of this monsoon disaster, affected areas and the dreadful weather forecast for the next three days is given below:

Heavy rains that started on Friday morning have exposed Mumbai's infrastructure. Due to waterlogging and extremely low visibility, vehicles were forced to crawl on the main roads of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Talking about the most affected areas, Andheri, Sanpada and many low-lying areas of the eastern and western suburbs have been completely transformed into islands. Andheri subway, considered an important route, has been submerged in water, due to which traffic had to be diverted. There is a mile-long jam on the roads and people are forced to remain stuck in vehicles for hours. However, it is a matter of relief that there has been no news of any major loss of life or property so far.
