Manchester United have received a significant boost in their efforts to sign Levante forward Etta Eyong.

Although United’s main focus this summer remains on reinforcing their midfield, the club also recognises the need to strengthen other areas of the squad, particularly the attacking line.

Benjamin Sesko had an impressive debut season in England after his high-profile transfer from RB Leipzig last summer. The Slovenian striker netted 11 goals in the Premier League, making him the top scorer in the second half of the season across the division.

However, ensuring adequate depth in attack remains crucial. This issue could become even more pressing if Joshua Zirkzee decides to leave the club. Zirkzee found limited opportunities during the 2025/26 campaign under both Ruben Amorim and Michael Carrick.

Reports have suggested that the Dutch forward might be heading back to Turkey, while clubs such as AC Milan, Juventus, and AS Roma are also believed to be monitoring his situation.

Meanwhile, Etta Eyong has emerged as a player of interest for Manchester United. The dynamic striker has been one of La Liga’s standout attacking talents since his move from Villarreal to Levante in September 2025, signing a four-year contract at the time.

The Cameroonian international recorded seven goals and four assists in 33 La Liga appearances last season. Barcelona had previously been linked with Eyong, but according to a report featured by The Peoples Person, the Catalan giants no longer see him as a priority target.

Eyong’s contract reportedly includes a release clause initially set at around €30 million.

In a fresh update, journalist Ben Jacobs has disclosed that this figure has been reduced – a development that could be particularly appealing to Manchester United if they decide to advance their interest in the player.

Jacobs revealed, “Exclusive: Etta Eyong’s release clause has been reduced to €20m from July 1 after a contractual amendment was agreed with Levante.”

He further added, “Eyong is currently prioritising a move to England.”

The fact that the 22-year-old forward is actively pursuing a Premier League transfer will come as encouraging news for potential suitors such as Manchester United.
