Manchester United’s search for midfield reinforcements has not unfolded as planned.

Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have outpaced United in their pursuit of several key targets, compelling the 20-time English league champions to shift focus towards Bournemouth for potential signings.

Supporters are eager for a marquee addition to the squad, and as a result, Ayyoub Bouaddi has now surfaced as the latest target following his impressive performances in the United States of America.

As reported by journalist Ben Jacobs, the Old Trafford club have “muscled” their way to the top of the list of suitors for Bouaddi, though Lille’s valuation could present significant challenges in finalising the deal.

United appear to be leading the race for Ayyoub Bouaddi.

The Ligue 1 side are demanding £86 million for the immediate transfer of the 18-year-old midfielder. However, if a club agrees to loan him back to Lille for a season, the fee could drop considerably to around £64 million.

According to talkSPORT, “Lille are seeking €100 million (£85.9 million) for Morocco midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, talkSPORT understands.” The report further adds, “However, it is also understood interested clubs could sign the midfielder for a vastly lower sum if they are willing to delay Bouaddi’s arrival by a year.”

Lille’s financial demands could potentially derail negotiations.

Manchester City are reportedly open to considering this loan-back arrangement, while United, who are in urgent need of midfield reinforcements, might find it difficult to wait. Despite his youth, the Moroccan starlet has already demonstrated the maturity and composure to perform at a higher level.

However, after previously refusing to meet an £85 million valuation for Fernandes, it remains to be seen whether INEOS will adjust their stance for Ayyoub Bouaddi. Only time will reveal how this transfer saga unfolds.
