The event, held at Muong Thanh Luxury Can Tho Hotel through Sunday, aims to showcase durian—one of the Mekong Delta’s most valuable agricultural products—and attract more visitors to the region’s largest city, Your Three newspaper reported.

Tickets cost VND199,000 (US$7.60) for adults and VND120,000 (US$4.60) for children aged 7 to 10, while children aged 6 and under get free entry, according to Can Tho Tre (Young Can Tho), a Facebook page run by Can Tho Newspaper and Radio-Television.

The durian-inspired dishes on offer include durian almond jelly, pumpkin and durian sweet soup, durian crepes, and flattened green rice topped with durian.

Can Tho has around 14,483 hectares of durian orchards, nearly 10,000 hectares of which are bearing fruit.

The city’s durian production is projected to reach approximately 125,000 metric tons in 2026.

From Ho Chi Minh City, it takes nearly three hours to reach Can Tho by road where tourists can explore some tourist attractions such as Cai Rang floating market, Binh Thuy ancient house and Ninh Kieu Wharf.

Durian buffets have become popular in recent years in major durian-producing countries such as Thailand and Malaysia.

Some hotels also partner with orchards to offer customers durian buffet tour packages.
