Looking at the recently revealed spy pictures and Kia’s current product strategy, it is believed that the BEV teaser may hint at the company’s upcoming Syros EV. The HEV teaser is almost being linked to the Sorento Hybrid model. Although the company has not yet officially confirmed any model, but auto experts believe that Kia is preparing to rapidly expand its electric and hybrid portfolio in India.
Syros EV has been spotted testing on Indian roads, indicating that its launch is going to happen soon. Once launched, it will be Kia India’s fourth electric model after the Carens Clavis EV, EV6 and EV9. The electric SUV is expected to retain the boxy design and upright stance of the petrol-powered Syros, while also getting EV updates like front and rear styling changes, aerodynamic alloy wheels and special color options. Features of the Sciros are likely to include a 30-inch Trinity display, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, dashcam and Level 2 ADAS. EV-specific software and graphics can also be added. Information about powertrain is not available yet.
Talking about the hybrid segment, Sorento Hybrid has been spotted testing in India. When launched, it will become Kia’s flagship ICE-based SUV, slotting in above the Seltos. The length of this three-row SUV is 4,815 mm and wheelbase is 2,815 mm. It is expected to take on cars like the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Taron, Jeep Meridian and even the Toyota Fortuner in terms of price. The Sorento is likely to be available in both six-seat and seven-seat configurations, along with premium features like a large panoramic sunroof, Bose audio system, ventilated seats, multi-zone climate control and a comprehensive Level 2 ADAS suite.
