As reported by Adam Leventhal and James McNicholas of The Athletic, Turkish club Besiktas have reached an agreement with Arsenal on a €20 million (£17.1 million) deal to sign Leandro Trossard.
It is widely anticipated that Arsenal will strengthen their options on the left flank this summer, with both Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli facing uncertain futures and potentially set to leave the Emirates Stadium.
According to The Athletic, Trossard now appears the more likely to depart, with the agreed transfer package valued at €18 million upfront plus an additional €2 million in performance-related add-ons.
The 31-year-old Belgian winger contributed eight goals and 11 assists last season, maintaining his strong form since joining Arsenal in 2023 — a move that came after Chelsea hijacked Arsenal’s pursuit of Mykhailo Mudryk.
During the 2022-23 winter transfer window, Arsenal were in advanced talks to sign Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk, having agreed personal terms and believing they led the race. However, Chelsea intervened with a higher bid and completed an £88 million transfer, leaving Arsenal to seek an alternative.
With only days remaining in that window and a clear gap in their attacking options, Arsenal turned to Trossard, securing his services from Brighton for a fee reported between £24 million and £27 million. The Belgian arrived with four seasons of Premier League experience already under his belt.
Since then, Trossard has gone on to win the Premier League title, while Mudryk has faced a four-year suspension from football following a doping violation.
At the time of writing, it remains uncertain whether Trossard will agree to personal terms with Besiktas or if he will choose to explore other opportunities.
