Leandro Trossard is reportedly close to leaving Arsenal, with the Premier League champions said to have reached an agreement with Turkish side Besiktas on a €20 million transfer deal. The Belgian international, who has been an influential player under Mikel Arteta, appears set to bring his successful spell at the Emirates Stadium to a close for a fresh opportunity in Turkey.

Reports from The Athletic indicate that Besiktas have made a decisive breakthrough in discussions with Arsenal, agreeing to a total package worth €20 million for the 31-year-old forward. The arrangement consists of €18 million guaranteed, with an additional €2 million tied to performance-based bonuses. Although both clubs have agreed on the transfer fee, the move is not yet finalised as negotiations continue over Trossard’s personal terms and salary, estimated around €9 million.

Trossard’s contractual position has played a key role in Arsenal’s decision-making. The winger signed a renewed deal in August 2025 that included a pay increase reflecting his importance to the team, but it did not extend beyond the summer of 2027. With only one year remaining on his contract, Arsenal’s management reportedly see this as the right time to sell and secure a substantial fee for a player who has now entered his thirties.

However, a formal announcement of the transfer is unlikely until Belgium’s World Cup campaign has concluded. Trossard remains an essential part of Rudi Garcia’s squad, with the Red Devils preparing for a last-16 clash against the United States. The Belgian star has been in exceptional form at the tournament, starting all four matches and recording two goals and one assist – including a standout performance in the 5-1 group-stage win over New Zealand.

His impact continued into the knockout phase, where he delivered a crucial assist in Belgium’s thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Senegal. According to sources, the final signing stage of the deal will wait until after Belgium’s participation in the tournament ends, but the move to Istanbul has already been set in motion.

Since his arrival from Brighton in January 2023 for £27 million, Trossard has been a consistent performer for Arsenal, tallying 174 appearances, 36 goals, and 34 assists. Primarily operating from the left wing, he also proved adaptable in central roles during injury spells within the squad.

Trossard’s most prolific scoring season came in 2023–24, when he found the net 16 times across the Premier League and Champions League. This success followed his strong first half of the 2022–23 campaign at Brighton, which included a memorable hat-trick in a 3-3 draw against Liverpool.

If his move to Besiktas is confirmed, Trossard will depart North London as a Premier League champion. The Belgian forward played a pivotal role in Arsenal’s 2025–26 title-winning campaign, their first league triumph since the famous ‘Invincibles’ season of 2004. He featured in 50 matches across all competitions, contributing eight goals and 11 assists, including a dramatic 83rd-minute winner against West Ham that proved vital in keeping Arsenal ahead of Manchester City in the title race.
